Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the competency and reliancy of a new metod developed to estimate the morphometric analysis of the crown base area of the teeth Paleoanthropology. It has also been aimed to determine morphometric changes in the crown size and shape of the Pasalar molars and with the metrical evaluation it is also aimed to enlighten argumentative situation of Pasalar hominoide species. The main material of the thesis is fossil hominoid molar teeth assemblage of the Bursa/Pasalar excavation, also living hominoid molar teeth were used as comparative material. The measurement values of a different method has also been used in former doctorate thesis on the same material and they have been compared to the measurement values of the new method used in the thesis. Statistical assessments of the EHKA, MD, BL and SHAPE measurement values obtained in accordance with the new method made in SPSS packet programme. Descriptive values for both hominoid groups have been given and these values have been compared between these two different methods. The results of the analysis of EHKA-OTTA and crown shape are compared according to new and former methods. It is also compared the measurements crown base area for the two methods. The Pasalar molar teeth and living hominoid molar teeth have been compared in respect to the meaning of descriptive values and in respect to crown size and crown shape comparison between M1-M2, M1-M3, M2-M3. Roc analysis is applied on Pasalar and living hominoid molars and the cluster analysis is applied on Pasalar hominoid molars. Results have shown that the new EHKA method could give different values, and the difference arise from the more detailed studies in EHKA measurement method. Both methods have revealed meaningful similarites within respect to obtained values imply that they could give details and they were used to study in detail on the similar values. As a result the dendogram analysis formed based on EHKA demonstrate that the presence of three different size group in the Pasalar hominoids. All results obtained in the study have supported the reliancy and the usability of the new method.
